CHASME BADOORMovie Review- Tanmay Dubey

’Har Ek Friend Kamina Hota hai’   is the tag line of the film and veteran Director David Dhawan sticks to the kaminapan  of the friends while telling the story which is full of really funny dialogues ( read: Divyendu Sharma’s cheap shayaris). Being the remake it did not had the luxury of having too many funny situations yet Dhawan manages to make a descent remake of the original cult classic and packages the movie with its original madness intact minus simplicity plus the age old Dhawanism brand of comedy. He pays homage to the classic “ chamko” scene in a truly innovative way ( Kudos for that!).

The sub plot of Rishi Kapoor’s character is cute. He is increasingly becoming most sought after character artist now a days and he does proves what a phenomenal actor (and Dancer) he still is! He builds up every character that he approaches with a perfect get up (read Rauf Lala in ‘Agneepath’ and his forthcoming ‘Aurangzeb where he plays a cop)

Music of the film is just average except for the song dhichkyaon doom dhoom which is foot tapping. (Sajid-Wajid stores their best for Salman! ) Performance wise all the young actors do a very decent job. Siddharth’s character does looks little over the top when the film starts but then gradually settles down. Divyendu sharma is as spontaneous as his last film ‘pyaar ka panchnama’. Ali Zafar does a decent job with his Punjabi accent Hindi !.(Girls love his voice…even in Dialogues! ) and dances well too. Debutant Actress Taapsee Pannu is good ( her girl next door looks J ) but has a long way to go in case she has to avoid becoming one film wonder.

David Dhawan’s style of comedy is quite evident (Read: film songs playing in a background in most of the funny situations, remember his ‘Aankhen’? ) paying at times tribute to his own films. Songs keep bursting out of nowhere which slows the pace and rest of the cast pulls of  the other comic scenes with Anupam Kher being his funny best.

All in All, this film is an entertaining which is going to fill your weekend with smiles. Like glue Dhawan has kept intact all the rawness of the young cast not allowing them much to go haywire. As I always say, do not compare remakes with their respective original classic if one wants to enjoy them. Every Film should be appreciated or loathed basis its merit or demerit.

Enjoy the Kaminapan !
