BESHARAM’- Movie Review

Starring :- Ranbir Kapoor, Rishi Kapoor, Pallavi Sarda, Neetu Singh,

Director:- Abhinav Singh Kashyap

So, the Kapoor clan is out to do what they know best, Entertain! Ranbir teams up with Dad Rishi and Mom Neetu to give  the audience an action comedy which is full of tried and tested formulae over time in Bollywood with a story line of a anaath chor, a childless couple, a crunchy romance and a villain who gets kicked at the end in lots of gravity defying stunts! (thanks to cables!)

Babli is a shameless(who do not wink before showing off his bummies), parentless car mechanic and a part time car thief with a noble heart, he falls in love with Tara Sharma ( Pallavi Sarda who looks beautiful, confident and dances unlike her character in the film). Inspector and Sub Inspector (Husband and Wife) Chulbul Chautala(Rishi Kapoor) Abhinav Singh Kashyap was looking for some luck when he used the title of his first film again! and Bulbul Chautala ( Neetu Singh in a loud but lovable character) are a childless Police couple who incidentally is on a lookout for Babli chor. The twist in the tale brings Babli to realize his errors and he sets out to correct them and in the process find his love and parents!

The film more than Ranbir Kapoor, is important for the director Abhinav Singh Kashyap as he has to prove his mettle minus Salman Khan post super success of ‘Dabangg’.

‘Dabangg’ was never a great film. It had interesting characters, good songs and action scenes and a very formula backed action revenge drama story line. ‘Besharam’ too falls into same category as its high point like ‘Dabangg’ is the central character who is Besharam, bears an unusual name 'babli' like 'chulbul' in 'Dabangg'; who do wrongdoing for a cause (anaath bacche in this case) and has a heart of gold. Minus off course Salman Khan, but that’s not a letdown at all as Ranbir Kapoor who is in super form, single handedly drives the film on his performance be it comic, action, romance or dance.

Sadly such films, whose plot is wafer thin, rely a lot on good music which is a let down here. Dialogues are good and funny with decent cinematography (except in couple of close up shots during a song where pallavi sarda’s makeup shines in the sun light!) Climax is funny and passable.

Javed Jaferi hasn’t much to do in the film, except for some glaring eyes; the dance number at the end during the credit rollout is good watch with the kapoor clan dancing and singing.

The film may not rake the moolah like Ranveer’s last YJHD, but will end up for sure bringing smiles to your faces.

Its Masala time for the extended weekend
